Royal Rumble weekend arrives in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — WWE fans were thrilled to be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Friday Night SmackDown.

Fans from all over the country and state have come to Indianapolis for the SmackDown and Saturday’s Royal Rumble.

“Just get my daughter involved. She’s loving it,” said Tommy Gray of Louisville, Kentucky. “She loves Liv Morgan, and I saw she was coming tonight, so we’re bringing her for that.”

His daughter, Olivia, agreed and said she loves Rhea Ripley, too.

Jalen Spain came from North Carolina. “Wrestling just brings, like, the positivity out of somebody you know, like, you don’t even have to know what’s going on, and just be in the environment and you’re just like, excited.”

Indianapolis resident Tyler Edwards said he was thrilled to have this in his backyard. “It feels amazing, like the atmosphere, all the people, wrestling fans all around the world, and it’s amazing. It’s just that I’m a big (John) Cena fan. This is his last year.”

Tashon Artist also came from North Carolina. “The fan base is just so welcoming and, like, just the energy around the stadium.”

Mauri Garrett traveled from Dallas, Texas. “It’s just entertaining. You know, the fans also are a big part of it. Just being able to feel like the energy in the room, it really gets everything going.”

Ricky Ramirez, of Chicago, said, “It’s goosebumps right now, kind of like, I can’t believe the day has come where John Cena is like doing his farewell tour and hopefully wins the rumble and breaks that record,” said .

Kelly Couch of Kokomo brought her whole family for the Smackdown. “And it’s like the atmosphere, and the enthusiasm of, you know them, wrestling, and you get to watch everything that they get to do on TV.”
