Woman found dead with trauma injuries at near north side apartment; no arrests made

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A homicide investigation was underway after Indianapolis police found a woman dead with trauma injuries during a welfare check at a near north side apartment.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 16 Park Apartments in the 1600 block of North Park Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Sunday for welfare check.

That apartment complex is on the near northside at the corner of East 17th Street and North Park Avenue, near other businesses and residential areas.

When they arrived at the complex, they found a woman inside suffering from unspecified trauma injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not been identified. The Marion County Coroner’s Office was expected to release her name and age after the family has been notified.

No arrests have been made as of Monday morning.
