INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 106-year-old jewelry store in downtown Indianapolis has found new ownership.
Windsor Jewelry, which opened in 1919, closed at the end of January after store owner Greg Bires and his wife, Lynn, decided it was time to retire.
Bires told News 8’s Kyla Russell in December that he hoped to find someone interested in buying the store and continuing the Windsor Legacy. And, as it turns out, he did.
Local business leaders Fernanda Beraldi and Ed Broeker purchased the century-old jewelry store and plan to keep it open at its current location.
“We are driven by a love of jewelry, passion for local businesses and belief in the future of downtown Indianapolis,” Beraldi said in a statement to News 8. “This opportunity is unique because we already have an independent and knowledgeable team in place that is very passionate about customer service and celebrating life’s special moments, and that wanted to remain with the store.”
Beraldi says some thing about Windsor Jewelry will change, but the name isn’t one of them.
“The name will remain, but the brand and interior design will be refreshed,” Beraldi explained. “We will refresh of the store’s interior, bringing together the store’s legacy and the history of the 100-year-old building, with a modern and comfortable vibe. In addition, will plan to grow the store’s online presence and leverage the robust custom design services,” Beraldi explained.
Windsor Jewelry, located at 16 N. Meridian St. in downtown Indianapolis, is open Tuesday through Saturday. Check the Windsor Jewelry Facebook page for hours and information.
