TIPTON, Ind. (WISH) — A deputy with the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office was injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving occupants who were possibly intoxicated.
At 3:50 a.m. Sunday, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office received a request to respond to a personal injury crash involving an on-duty Tipton County deputy at the intersection of County Road 725 West and State Road 28.
Hamilton County deputies responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. Investigators believe the involved deputy was traveling west on State Road 28 when a second vehicle traveling north on County Road 725 West disregarded a stop sign, resulting in a collision at the intersection.
The involved deputy sustained minor injuries and was taken to Indiana University Tipton Hospital for medical evaluation. He has since been treated and released.
The occupants of the second vehicle appeared to be intoxicated and were uncooperative with law enforcement. Both occupants denied being the driver of the vehicle. Search warrants were obtained for blood draws of both occupants. Their vehicle was taken to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for further processing. The involved deputy’s vehicle was towed to Miller’s Towing & Transport for additional investigation.
Following the execution of the search warrant, the occupants were released pending further investigation.
