TED announces its first sports-focused event will be in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Technology, Entertainment, Design, perhaps best known for its TED talks, announced Thursday its first sports-focused event.

TEDSports was set for Sept. 9-11 at the Old National Centre in Indianapolis. Registration and the first wave of speakers will be announced April 1.

Curated and organized in collaboration with Indiana Sports Corp and Next Practice Partners, the event was touted as bringing together some of the world’s most innovative thinkers to explore the past, present and future of sports.

TEDSports Indianapolis will feature main-stage TED Talks, interactive workshops, “Discovery Sessions,” panels, curated dinners, and other experiences designed to spark conversation and inspire attendees to make an impact through sports. Monique Ruff-Bell, chief program and strategy officer for TED, said in a statement in a news release issued Thursday, “Sports have always been about more than physical excellence — they embody strategy, innovation, and human potential.”

The event, themed Game Changers, will be co-chaired by
