The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the Trump administration can cancel $65 million in education grants that were part of the administration’s crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
The 5-4 ruling lifts a temporary restraining order from a federal judge in Boston, and allows the administration to terminate the grants while litigation on the issue continues. The Trump administration has been trying to cancel millions of dollars in grants and contracts, but has been blocked by multiple federal courts.
Chief Justice John Roberts dissented in the case, along with the court’s three liberal justices, according to Politico.
