SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — A Scott County Sheriff’s Office K-9 was placed out of service Friday morning after turning on its handler.
On Friday morning, Deputy Zachary Brown was tending to his assigned K-9 partner Zeus when Zeus became aggressive toward Brown. Zeus attacked Brown, who suffered bites and scratch injuries. Brown was taken to Norton’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Zeus was subdued, and will be in quarantine for 10 days. Zeus is scheduled to be examined by a veterinarian to check for health reasons that may have caused him to turn against his handler.
Sheriff Jerry Goodin has placed Zeus out of service until further information is gathered.
