INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are looking for two suspects in a shooting involving a rideshare vehicle on the far east side of Indianapolis.

A rideshare driver was picking up two teenagers just after 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Amber Woods apartments on Mitthoeffer Road south of 38th Street when two people told him to get out of the car, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says.

The driver sped away and the suspects fired shots, hitting him and a teenage girl.

Despite his injury, the driver made it to a laundromat at 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road, where police were called.

Officers told News 8 the victims were stable when transported to a local hospital.

IMPD says riders should be cautious when using rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft.

“Let someone know you’re being picked up by a ridesharing service and let them follow you on Life 360 or an app that lets you track their location,” IMPD Capt. Rob Rider told News 8. “Let them know, ‘Hey, I made it’ or whatever. It’s always good to let someone know when you’re being picked up.”

Police have not shared any information about the suspects and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should contact IMPD or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
