INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Pike Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library will have a grand reopening celebration to show off brand new renovations.
The celebration party will have activities for the whole family to enjoy. From live music by Mr. Daniel, a safari animal show, to face painting and balloons from Cinnamon the Clown.

Unveiling during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Pike Branch library show a host of new areas and facilities for patrons.
- Renovated entrance.
- Comfort room next to the children’s area.
- Dedicated teens area.
- Group study rooms.
- Podcast recording studio.
- Updated restrooms.
- More outlets for device charging.
- Updated mechanical and lighting systems.

The Pike Branch is aiming for a LEEDv4 Silver Certification, a certification that the building lowers carbon emissions for a healthy environment.
“We’ve created a welcoming new space that preserves beloved elements from the original branch, like the cherished fish tank that remains a favorite among children,” CEO of The Indianapolis Public Library Gregory Hill said in the announcement. “This branch is designed to support early childhood literacy, foster learning and belonging, and champion workforce development through digital equity and essential resources. Whether you’re an individual, nonprofit, or small business, we’re here to help you thrive. I’m excited for the community to experience the space and connect with our dedicated staff.”

The Pike Brach will have a new regional manager Michael Jenkins, who has over 13 years of library experience.
“The Pike Township community is made richer by its cultural, ethnic, and economic diversity, and our location next to Pike High School presents a wonderful opportunity to serve students and families,” Jenkins said. “I’m excited to be part of this community and look forward to building relationships that foster lifelong learning and connection.”
$2,275,000 was allocated to the renovation budget. The Pike Branch has been closed since Dec. 10, 2023.
Kicking off at 10 a.m. March 29, the grand reopening will have extra parking at the Pike High School parking lot.
