INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indy achieved its first 70 of 2025 as we got to embrace tons of sunshine and dry air! We get to stick with the 70 degree trend the next few days, but it will come with a price of a strong and large system by this weekend.

Tuesday night: We’ll settle into a mostly clear night with lows dropping into the mid to upper 40s.

Wednesday: Another fantastic warm day under mostly to partly sunny skies is ahead for our area. Highs will rise into the low to mid 70s. Indy will be close to the record high of 76 set back in 1990. Have a great time as well if you’re heading to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first round of the men’s Big Ten basketball tournament.

Thursday: The jackpot of 70 degree weather keeps on giving through Thursday with skies turning partly to mostly cloudy. We cannot rule out a few spotty showers mainly south of Indy, but overall expect a mainly dry day.

7-Day Forecast: Friday is shaping up to be our warmest day of the week and also close to the record high of 81 from 2012. This will set the stage for an intense low pressure system that starts making its influence felt going into Friday night. We are thinking there will be a line of showers and storms that scoots in late Friday night. This could contain a threat for severe weather as there is a slight risk currently in association with it. Damaging winds is the main concern at this time, but there will also be non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 40+ MPH potentially.

Then, we’ll monitor the progression of the cold front Saturday along with having very gusty winds of 40-50+ MPH. For now, the heavy rain and severe storm threat looks to be mainly southeast of Indy Saturday into Saturday night. This could change, so keep an eye on the forecast. Temperatures drop back into the 50s briefly by Sunday.
