MONROVIA, Ind. (WISH) — Morgan County officials on Tuesday night will share information on a proposed data center development on farmland near Monrovia.

Morgan County Economic Development Corp. says the developer’s identity is “confidential.” Property owners have been informed that the proposal calls for rezoning about 390 acres from agricultural to planned unit development.

Documents from the Morgan County Plan Commission call it “Morgan County Data Center Project 1 Planned Unit Development.” The documents say the development would cover 377 acres north of State Road 42 between its intersections with West Union Road and North Antioch Road. That’s just northeast of the town of Monrovia.

An information meeting about the project will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Monrovia Christian Church, 710 Gordon Road.

That meeting comes ahead of a public hearing before the plan commission at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Morgan County Administration Building, 180 S. Main St. in Martinsville.

The documents say 10 property owners have agreements to sell land for the development, and a list of adjacent property owners have been notified. Basic information on the development has also been published in legal notices.

Mike Dellinger, executive director of the Economic Development Corp., said in a statement to News 8, “Morgan County EDC is the applicant for a rezoning request on behalf of a confidential developer. Unfortunately, I cannot provide further information regarding the prospective developer or the potential end user.”

Monrovia, a town of 2,200 residents, is about a 35-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
