Mayor announces changes to snow removal plan in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett on Thursday announced changes to the city’s snow removal plans for roads.

The Democrat mayor says the Department of Public Works will adopt a 4-inch standard for plowing residential streets for the rest of the season.

The mayor also says the standard sets clear expectations for when and how neighborhoods will be plowed.

On Thursday night, the City-County Council’s Public Works Committee postponed a proposal that would formally change residential snow plow requirements. Some council members expressed concerns over the mayor’s plans, which were released just over an hour before the committee meeting.
