Veterans IN Farming trying to connect vets to agriculture

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.

This week, Joe Ricker, founder of Veterans IN Farming, shares how he’s teaching veterans and their dependents to find success with farming, homesteading, and ranching.

“It’s great to see veterans start to get into farming and develop a way to reconnect with their communities and produce something for the communities as well,” Ricker said.

Veterans IN Farming hosts webinars, workshops, and conferences aimed at not only teaching agricultural skills, but to provide a sense of camaraderie.

It takes a community to grow, which is why Veterans IN Farming partners with Addie’s Orchard and the Indiana Department of Veteran Affairs, Ricker said.

“We’re going to try to work with them and we’re going to give out money to veterans as well, so it’s a really great energy trying to get things moving forward,” he said.
