INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A German Shepherd’s day of adventure turned dangerous after it fell through ice and into a frozen pond on Sunday evening, prompting a water rescue from Indianapolis firefighters.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews came to the rescue around 5:30 p.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting a dog fell into an icy pond in the 11000 block of Hartland Drive on the far east side near Cumberland.

There, firefighters found the German Shepherd struggling to get up and out of the ice. Crews carefully slid across the ice and after some time, pulled the pup to safety.
