INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A winter weather advisory will go into effect for northern portions of of the state tonight.
This morning:
Starting the day off with mainly cloudy conditions and dry weather across Central Indiana. Temperatures are hovering right now into the 30s across much of the region this morning.
Wednesday:
Much of the day is going to be dry today with cloudy skies and nearly steady temperatures. Highs will likely hit the mid-30s by late this afternoon.

Winter weather advisories are in place for the northern third of the state beginning in the early evening. A warm front will slide in from the south. This will bring in some light precipitation, which could begin as brief freezing rain in some of those weather advisory areas. Any ice accumulation will be very light and should be mainly on elevated surfaces. With that said, we can’t rule out an isolated slick spot or two on the roads, but overall that shouldn’t be a problem.

For the rest of Central Indiana, we’re just looking at scattered chilly rain showers for the late afternoon, evening, and overnight hours.

Temperatures will actually climb as we head through the overnight hours, starting off in the mid-30s but winding up around the low 40s by the time we wake up for Thursday morning.

Thursday:
There will be some lingering light precipitation in the form of chilly rain showers for Thursday morning. The rest of the day will be cloudy and much warmer with highs into the upper 40s.
Friday:
Another round of Canadian high pressure settles in for Friday, bringing us colder temperatures and dry conditions. Highs will top out into the upper 30s and lower 40s for Friday afternoon.
This weekend:
Another potent system moves to start off the weekend. Look for cloudy conditions in the morning with maybe a brief shot of a wintry mix in the northern half of the state late morning on Saturday. Look for a quick changeover to rain showers as we head into the afternoon as the temperature warms to around 50°.
7 day forecast:
Rain will move out by late Saturday night, ushering in another cold snap to wrap up the weekend on Sunday with highs into the upper 30s.

Near normal temperatures will continue as we head into at least the first half of the work week next week. There are several opportunities for systems to move through central Indiana next week, which could provide us with chances for both rain and snow.
