FFA Gearing up for the Unified Horticulture CDE

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Unified Horticulture CDE (Career Development Event) provides Indiana FFA members with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in a competitive event that will prepare them with skills and knowledge for life after FFA and high school.

The event, which is in its second year, is also an opportunity to unify membership amongst students of all abilities.  

The goal for this year’s contest is for students to identify flowers, fruits, nuts and vegetables and determine if they are safe to eat.

Skills garnered from this contest could be transferable to jobs in a produce section at a grocery store, helping restock food and understanding what’s safe to consume and what’s not.  

The Unified Horticulture CDE is scheduled to take place April 26 at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar. FFA members from across the state are invited to participate.
