Fatal east side crash; woman dead, man in hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman died from a fatal vehicle crash early Sunday morning, the driver of the vehicle was then taken to the hospital.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says that they were called to East 10th Street and Routiers Avenue, just west of North Post Road, to a serious wreck around 1:48 a.m.

Police say that the vehicle was driving eastbound when it left the road and hit a culvert, which caused the vehicle to crash and end up on its side.

A female passenger was ejected from the crash. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, however died shortly after arrival. Police say that the male driver was taken to the hospital, reported to be awake and breathing.

No other vehicle is believed to be involved in the incident.
