INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Tech billionaire and presidential advisor Elon Musk backtracked on calling Sen. Todd Young (R-Indiana) a “deep state puppet” following a conversation on Sunday.
Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) claiming Sen. Young would not support Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination for director of national intelligence, Musk wrote “Todd Young is a deep state puppet”.
Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii selected by President Donald Trump to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, has faced criticism from Democrats and Republicans over past comments sympathetic to Russia, government leaker Edward Snowden, and meeting with Syria’s president.
Just two hours after calling Young a “puppet”, Must posted again to X to say he stood “corrected,” and that he and Young “had an excellent conversation”.
“Senator Young will be a great ally in restoring power to the people from the vast, unelected bureaucracy,” Musk wrote.
Young would not endorse President Trump’s candidacy and criticized Trump, even after he earned the Republican presidential nomination.
Young’s current term runs through 2028. His office has not responded to News 8’s request for details on the call.
