NEW ORLEANS (WISH) — 2024 was not the season that the Colts wanted it to be.

They finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson missed four games due to injury and was benched for two games as well.

Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was supportive of his quarterback. He said he’s taking the right steps and is working with the people that are going to help him get to the next level.

“Everything that happened throughout the season, I feel like he handled everything great,” Pittman Jr. said. “At times, it felt like everybody was throwing shots at him. I mean, he’s such a young guy, but the way that he handled that with his professionalism, how he showed up every single day, he didn’t sulk and he showed up and worked. Those are the kind of things that keep me hopeful for him that I think we’re going to see improvement in him because he wants to be that guy that he knows that he can be and that guy that all of us know that he can be.”

Pittman Jr. is focused on what he can do to help Richardson and the Colts team as a whole get to the next level as well.

“There’s things that I got to do differently this year in order to take that next jump too because obviously last year wasn’t a very good production year for me and that’s something that I look at that’s lighting my hair on fire,” Pittman Jr. said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do different but I’m bringing more heat than I’ve ever brought before.”

Pittman Jr. had the lowest production he’s had since his rookie season. He caught 69 passes for 808 yards and three touchdowns. He was, however, playing with a back fracture throughout the year.

Pittman Jr. also talked about some of the changes that are going to be made to help improve the team for next season.

“There are definitely going to be some changes made and I think that Chris (Ballard) and Shane (Steichen) were clear when we had our end of the year meeting, and I think that that’s good,” Pittman said. “I feel like change inspires growth because we got to do something different that we haven’t done before in order to reach that next level. As players, what we have to do is find ways to reach that next level.”
