INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Centier Bank wants to help all Hoosiers, including current and former inmates, with a series of financial wellness courses called “Centier to You.”

Linda Bricker, community relations officer at Centier Bank, says they have over 15 courses available and offer them to the Hamilton County Jail.

“Most of the inmates have never had any type of financial literacy course, and don’t really have an understanding of basic financials,” Bricker said. “We start with a very basic budget and we build on topics from there, so they have a good understanding of everything they will need to have or experience when they get out of jail.”

Even if you consider yourself financially knowledgeable, Bricker has some tips to get quick results to pad your wallet.

“Start with a budget. Know where every penny is going. So many people have money that just kind of goes, we call it a spending leak, right? You go to the gas station and you swipe your card and you don’t ever think about it, but everything adds up,” she said.
