CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation has installed braille and tactile interpretative signs at River Heritage Park.

The 10 interpretive signs sit along the White Tail Loop, a 1.23-mile immersive nature trail that is wheelchair-assessable. The displays were designed to allow people with limited language skills to express and share their emotions and needs nonverbally, the parks department said in a news release issued Thursday.

Other News:   Here are the new state laws going into effect on Jan. 1

The release did not provide any information on the cost of the new displays.

River Heritage Park is north of 116th Street along the White River.

Statement

“Bringing this tactile approach to interpretive displays will allow all community members to learn about and enjoy the rich natural resources in our community. We hope to continue adding more inclusive elements to River Heritage Park and other CCPR properties in the future.”
