IMPD releases bodycam video of 2023 police shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Friday released bodycam video of a police shooting from October 2023.
Officers say just before 2 a.m. Oct. 14, 2023, an off-duty IMPD officer was working in the area outside the Bubbaz Bar and Grill in the 10000 block of East Washington Street, near Mitthoefer Road, when an altercation happened near the bar’s entryway. Shots were fired inside the bar, injuring a male.
The off-duty officer attempted to defuse the situation and a person fired shots toward the officer. That’s when the officer engaged with the suspect and shot them.
The suspect was charged with multiple felonies and later found not guilty.
IMPD could not immediately say Friday whether the agency is reviewing the officer’s actions in any way.
At least one other person was shot from the incident. No one died in the shooting.
