INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is launching a series of beginner-friendly bike rides every Thursday and Saturday starting this month.

These rides are designed to be accessible to all, covering distances between 5 to 10 miles. Participants can bring their own bikes or use Pacers Bike Share bikes available for the rides.

“It’s supposed to be fun and accessible exploring our city,” Amy Marisavljevic from the Indianapolis Cultural Trail said.

The rides include themed events such as the ‘no spandex required’ ride, which ends at a local brewery, and the ‘Bikes and Bakeries’ ride on the last Saturday of each month, offering participants a chance to visit local bakeries.

The initiative aims to connect riders with various cultural districts and greenways in Indianapolis, such as Mass Ave, Fountain Square and the Fall Creek Trail. Marisavljevic noted that the rides are a great way for people to learn about the city’s bike trails and cultural connections. “People like to ride. They don’t know where to ride,” she explained.

In addition to the free rides, the Cultural Trail offers paid bike tours on the first Saturday of each month for $45, which include a bike and a guided tour of the city’s landmarks and districts.

The bike rides provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to explore Indianapolis in a relaxed and community-focused way, enhancing the city’s cultural and recreational offerings.
