INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Temperatures will be just shy of record-breaking today.

This morning:

We’re starting on Monday off with mostly cloudy skies and quiet conditions. Temperatures are also running about 10 to 15° warmer than Sunday morning.

Monday:

The headline today is well above-average temperatures. In fact, we’ll have a very early taste of spring as we head into the afternoon. Highs will top out into the upper 50s and lower 60s this afternoon. The record high in Indianapolis for today is 67, set back in 2020.

Monday night:

A cold front will swing through the state later this evening, shifting our winds and bringing in colder temperatures across our area. Mostly cloudy skies Overnight with lows falling to the low to mid-30s.

Tuesday:

Mostly sunny skies as we head through your Tuesday with a significant cooldown. High temperatures will only top out into the mid-40s, which is still about 10° above average for this time of year.

Wednesday:

Our next storm system moves in for Wednesday. With temperatures right at or just below freezing for the morning and early afternoon hours, the potential exists for possibly freezing rain and/or sleet at the onset of the storm system moving through. Eventually, as the warm front lifts north, we will flip the switch to all rain for the late afternoon and evening hours.

We will also likely hit our high for the day very late Wednesday night.

7 day forecast:

A few rain showers will be lingering for Thursday morning, but much of the day should be dry with mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures; highs will top out around 50°.

Another sharp cooldown is on the way for Friday with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s. Our next system of interest moves in on Saturday with the potential for widespread rain, especially late in the afternoon and evening. This should bring another significant cool down for the end of the weekend with highs in the upper 30s for Sunday.

Longer-term patterns also advertise another shot of colder temperatures coming our way. Head into the middle of next week.
