INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A former member of the Indiana Fever is coming back home for the 2025 season.
The Indiana Fever announced Monday they have signed free agent forward Natasha Howard, who previously played with the Fever in 2014 and 2015.
After her first stint with the Fever, Howard went on to gather a number of accolades, including winning three WNBA Championships, earning the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019, and taking home numerous wins in several overseas championships. She is also a two-time WNBA All-Star, earning the title in 2019 and 2022.
Fever General Manager Amber Cox says Howard is has been a “top free agent target since day one.”
“In addition to being one of the most versatile forwards our league has ever seen, she is also a proven winner and will bring a great veteran presence to our locker room,” Cox said. “Having worked with her the last two seasons, I came to admire her professionalism and approach to the game. She’s an incredible player and even better person and we are thrilled to welcome her back to the Fever.”
Howard expressed in her gratitude in a statement. “I’m so thankful to God for leading me back to my home with the Indiana Fever. No matter the situation, when you believe and uplift, a great gift will be waiting for you. I’m excited to get back to Indiana to represent and share the love with those who believed in me from day one.”
Howard’s return to the Fever will pair her up once again with Head Coach Stephanie White, who was an assistant in 2014 and head coach in 2015.
She would win back-to-back WNBA Championships in 2017 and 2018 with the Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm. She snagged a second championship win with the Storm in 2020.
Currently competing with Turkey’s Çukurova, Howard is averaging a team-high 19.2 points per game with 10.8 rebounds. Çukurova is currently ranked 4th in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League.
