18-year-old dies in fatal Hamilton County crash

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — After trying to pass another vehicle and swerving to avoid a collision, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said a fatal car crash killed an 18-year-old.

Around 9:03 p.m. Saturday, a BMW was traveling southbound on Florida Road, near Geist Park and 113th Street. The BMW moved into the northbound lane to try to pass another vehicle, when, over the hill, a Toyota RAV4 was coming northbound.

The BMW and the Toyota swerved to avoid the crash, both heading off the east side of the road.

The Toyota hit a mailbox, but the BMW got into a fatal accident. Sliding through the grass, the BMW hit a tree and caught on fire.

HCSO said the passenger in the BMW, identified as 18-year-old Mason Alexander from Indianapolis, died at the scene.

A crash team is investigating the incident.
