INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on Wednesday arrested a 17-year-old for his alleged role in an armed robbery on the city’s east side.
On Wednesday, IMPD East District officers responded to a gas station in the 6900 block of Pendleton Pike on a report of an armed robbery of a person. Officers found a woman with injuries to her face, and they learned she had been robbed of her handgun and struck in the face with a handgun by the suspect. Officers gathered a description of the suspect and broadcast the information over the radio to other officers in the area.
Moments later, responding officers found the suspect, which resulted in a foot pursuit. The suspect dropped a handgun and backpack before being taken into custody without incident.
IMPD robbery detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Two handguns, one equipped with a machine gun conversion device and one matching the description of the woman’s stolen handgun, were recovered as evidence. Marijuana and a large amount of commercial THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) products were also recovered.
The 17-year-old male suspect was arrested and preliminarily charged with armed robbery, possession of a machine gun, battery with a deadly weapon, dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor – prior conviction, resisting law enforcement, and possession of marijuana.
