FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) — A man is dead Sunday after his pickup truck collided with a utility pole in Fort Wayne.
At 1:59 a.m. Sunday, Fort Wayne Police Department communications received reports of a crashed vehicle in the 5200 block of Saint Joe Road. After arriving to the scene, officers found a pickup truck that had left the roadway and collided with a utility pole on the west side of Saint Joe Road.
The pickup truck was driven by an adult male, who was the only occupant. Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the pickup truck was traveling southbound on Saint Joe Road when, for an undetermined reason, it left the roadway on the west side and collided with a utility pole. No other vehicles or bystanders were involved.
Crash reconstructionists are processing the scene, taking measurements, and collecting evidence to try and determine what caused the driver to leave the roadway.
The driver’s identity will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
